New rule: if you can’t maneuver your vehicle at 0mph, you shouldn’t be driving it at any higher speed either.
Have to state though, idiot truck driver was parked before me. But they were parked in a compact spot, the spot they were edged majorly into was the only free spot in the shade, and my car doesn’t have AC. I wasn’t going to suffer because somebody else is too shit at parking their vehicle. Kind of surprised they weren’t ticketed because the rear end of the truck was sticking about five feet out into the lane as well being way over the line.
Amazingly, they returned at the same time I did, so I decided to stand a couple spots away and see if they could make it out without scraping the car up (and to prevent myself from walking up and blurting snide remarks, as while I usually have lots of patience for stupid people, I really haven’t had any for the past week).

Don’t those new f-150s have park assist too? (Just let the machine park itself!)

have no idea, if it does, probably the user doesn’t know how to turn it on.

Trucks just keep getting bigger, parking spaces do not.
I really hate it when they park an the end of the row in parking decks. Not only are they a huge blindspot, they make it impossible for 2 cars (one going up/one down) to squeeze by.

I hear you on the patience thing. I was handed a report today for a property in “Pheonix” - and it was prereviewed before I got the draft. I had to take a walk.
Your photo reminded me though, the parking lot at my favorite thrift shop had to have been striped in the 80s. The Fiat barely fits in a spot. The Escalades driven by many customers take up about 6.

They do, but it’s for parallel parking like all similar systems.
However, that truck is no newer than a 2014, so no.

In fairness, unless you have a crane, it’s hard to maneuver a vehicle at 0mph. 1mph makes it a bit easier.
Truck owner was being a selfish ass. At least it wasn’t a lifted light-bar festooned bro-dozer.

In truck’s defense: All spots are compact spots.
Source: Own an F250, there aren’t many spots it fits well in. Still no excuse to park like shit.

I’m going to try to give him the benefit of the doubt and say there was likely another car parked like shit to his right when he parked, leading to him being parked like that.
Nevermind, he’s likely just a douche.

i mean to be fair i dont think anyone can manuver a car at 0 MPH, usually manuvering requires a little momentum for something that size :P

There’s a small grocery store near me with spaces like this. They could make them wider, but it still isn’t deep enough, either. So, you’re better off taking up 2 spaces if you’re in a longer truck. Or really, anything besides a small car. I can barely open the doors of my E46 when I’m next to other “normal” cars there.

I was parked in a similar diagonal space the other day and a new F350 pulled in next to me. He did well getting the truck into the space, but had a bit of trouble getting out of his door. This was my view from inside the car:
I do believe the bottom of the mirror is over the roof of my car, which isn’t exactly a Lotus. It’s a E46 wagon.

Believe it or not, there are speeds lower than 1mph.

That’s what normally happens... but everybody to their passenger side was in the lines, so if it was a domino effect, everybody else so effected had already left. Which still wouldn’t excuse them parking in a compact spot.

Are they labelled compact only?
I don’t see a sign to indicate that unless it’s behind your p.o.v.

They don’t need to be. If security comes by they do ticket vehicles parked over the lines.
Just like on the street, there are no signs saying “don’t park three feet away from the curb or more” - you do it, you get ticketed if you get caught. If you don’t get caught, you’re just causing a nuisance/hazard for everybody else using the street.
Beyond that, if somebody is too stupid to know the size of their vehicle, and too clueless to notice the size of the parking spot? Do they deserve any apologies? At least when BMW owners do it (and people are ALL FOR complaining about that) they do it in a far corner of the lot.

Likewise: There are no spots designed for pickups these days.
If the spot is not labelled, it’s fair game so long as you can fit it between the lines.
